At the "2025 Annual Meeting of Photovoltaic Recycling Industry Development Cooperation Center and the 7th Photovoltaic Equipment Recycling and Recycling Technology Forum" held on February 21, 2025, the world's first fully recycled photovoltaic module was officially released! Shen Hui, Director of the Photovoltaic Committee of the China Green Supply Chain Alliance and Director of the Yangtze River Delta Solar Photovoltaic Technology Innovation Center, Lv Fang, PV Committee of China Green Supply Chain Alliance (China ECOPV Alliance), Chen Yifeng, Vice President of Trina Solar Co., Ltd., Zhang Hongjia, Chairman and Co-founder of RESOLAR Energy Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Yuan Fei, Director of the Chairman's Office of Flat Glass Group Co., Ltd., Cai Shuyi, General Manager of Zhejiang Zhongju Materials Co., Ltd., and Zhang Yi, Manager of the Green Energy Materials Research Institute of Yongzhen Technology Co., Ltd., attended the launch ceremony. This not only marks the feasibility of recycling and high-value recycling of photovoltaic modules in my country, but also demonstrates to the world the historic step taken by photovoltaic industry on the road of green, circular and sustainable development.
The fully recycled photovoltaic module was led by PV Committee of China Green Supply Chain Alliance (China ECOPV Alliance), undertaken by Trina Solar, and jointly completed by RESOLAR, Yongzhen Technology , Flat Group, and Zhongju Materials . After testing, this TOPCon 210N-66 recycled photovoltaic module (height 2384mm*width 1303mm) has a conversion efficiency of up to 20.7% and a power of more than 645W, showing reliable performance and stability.
RESOLAR used the frame dismantling process to dismantle aluminum frames from decommissioned photovoltaic modules, and Yongzhen Technology made new photovoltaic module aluminum frames out of recycled materials provided by RESOLAR.
RESOLAR uses its advanced GST green solution to achieve efficient separation of cells and glass from decommissioned photovoltaic modules. The photovoltaic glass recovered by RESOLAR from decommissioned photovoltaic modules is large-piece and high-purity glass that can be used to make photovoltaic glass. Trina Solar handed over the recycled photovoltaic glass obtained from RESOLAR to Flat Group to make new PV glass.
The solar cell fragments separated by RESOLAR can directly enter the silver recovery stage.
During the silver recovery process, RESOLAR uses advanced silver recovery technology to remove the silver grid lines on the surface of the solar cell fragments and extract silver ingots with extremely high purity, mature technology and extremely low loss rate from the solar cell fragments. RESOLAR provided the recovered silver ingots to Trina Solar to manufacture the world's first fully recycled module.
By collaborating with upstream and downstream partners, Trina Solar further prepares front-side fine grid slurry using silver powder manufactured from silver ingots provided by RESOLAR.
Next, RESOLAR used SWT silicon cleaning technology to deeply remove impurities from the de-silvered solar cell fragments and finally convert them into high-purity silicon. This step is crucial to ensure the performance of photovoltaic modules, because high-purity silicon is the core material for manufacturing high-efficiency photovoltaic cells.
Trina Solar removed bulk/surface impurities with self-developed cleaning agents from high-purity silicon materials provided by RESOLAR, and adopted N-type Czochralski (CZ) monocrystalline silicon technology combined with a low-temperature impurity gettering process to obtain silicon wafers with performance close to that of the original.
Since the official release of the world's first fully recycled PV module, it has been reported by many leading media in the new energy industry, including PV Yun, PV Box, Weibo Consulting, Shange New Energy , and Battery Key Materials .
