As early-installed photovoltaic (PV) modules enter their retirement period, PV recycling is rapidly becoming a new global market. In this new green technology arena, young entrepreneurs under 30 from both China and the United States are distinguishing themselves with innovative models and technologies.

US Representative: Charles Hu and Reverse Energy Solutions (RES)

  Business : RES has developed a patented technology for a "mobile solar panel recycling plant," which can quickly dismantle and sort waste photovoltaic panels on-site.

  Progress : The company has secured $9.18 million in funding, receiving support from top incubators such as LACI (Los Angeles Clean Technology Incubator), Techstars Alabama Power EnergyTech, and Greentown Labs. Annual revenue has reached $4 million. Charles Hu was subsequently nominated for Forbes' "30 Under 30" list.

  Co-founder Background : Charles Hu graduated with a Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the UCI School of Business and has entrepreneurial experience in perfume and overseas consulting companies.

  Business : Focusing on building centralized recycling and processing centers, and using large-scale technology to efficiently extract high-value materials such as silicon, silver, copper, aluminum, and photovoltaic glass from decommissioned PV modules.

  Progress : In 2024, RESOLAR completed a Pre-A financing round of tens of millions of RMB, with Bright Capital as the investor. In July 2025, RESOLAR completed a Series A financing round of tens of millions of RMB, jointly invested by Ronghe Technology and Xinhuan Capital (formerly "CITIC Environment Industry Fund"),  with existing shareholder Bright Capital continuing to increase its investment. As the first photovoltaic recycling company in China to receive venture capital, its 10,000-ton-level production line in Fengyang, Anhui, achieved mass production in 2024, producing various recycled materials such as recycled glass, aluminum, and 6N grade silicon, achieving significant economic benefits. In 2024, Trina Solar and RESOLAR, Flat Group, Yongzhen, and Zhongju jointly manufactured the world's first fully recycled photovoltaic module.

  Co-founder Background : Hongjia Zhang holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Imperial College London and a Master's degree from Tsinghua Scienvest Program. He previously founded Yangzhou Jia Hui, a leading silicon ingot casting company in China. His family has been involved in the photovoltaic industry for 20 years and the photovoltaic cell recycling industry for 12 years.
