RMB 0.36/W! Jinko CTO Jin Hao expects module prices to fall another 50% over the next five years
Oct 19, 2026

On October 17, Jinko's 2026 Global Technology Day was held. Jin Hao, Chief Technology Officer of JinkoSolar, presented a set of assessments: Over the past 20 years, photovoltaic module prices have fallen by more than 95% cumulatively; over the next five years, they are expected to decline by a further 50%.

Module prices have continued to decline from approximately RMB 2/W in 2016, rebounding to around RMB 1.9/W in 2021–2022 before turning downward again: RMB 0.84/W in 2024, RMB 0.68/W in 2025, and within the range of RMB 0.7–0.8/W in 2026. According to Mr. Jin's assessment, module prices will reach approximately RMB 0.36/W by 2030. He pointed out that traditional cost-reduction pathways are nearing their end, and that future cost reductions will be driven primarily by technological innovation, the application of base metals, and AI-enabled intelligent cost reduction.
