In the coming years, the quantity of end-of-life photovoltaic modules is expected to continue rising. France has selectively designated 6 industrial operators, with the core objective of expanding domestic PV module recycling capacity and perfecting the lifecycle management system for photovoltaics.

The French government has officially recognized Soren as the authorized entity for collecting and processing end-of-life PV modules. Through competitive bidding, these 6 operators were selected. This initiative fundamentally aims to strengthen domestic recycling infrastructure, providing long-term stable support for photovoltaic industry deployment.

The selected operators include Envie 2E, Galloo, Rosi, RVE, and First Solar, with recycling facilities distributed across mainland France and overseas territories. Their combined annual PV module processing capacity will exceed 45,000 tons, significantly elevating France's overall PV recycling standards.

Soren stated that this updated industrial layout further broadens geographical coverage, including recycling capabilities in Réunion Island. This approach reduces transportation distances, minimizes environmental impact, optimizes recycling logistics efficiency, and enhances overall collection and processing performance for end-of-life components.

The planned recycling process can recover over 95% of materials from PV modules, including glass, metals, and semiconductor components, achieving high-efficiency circular resource utilization. Simultaneously, this system can process neighboring countries' end-of-life PV modules, further expanding service boundaries.

As a crucial component of the capacity expansion plan, Envie 2E Occitanie will establish a new industrial recycling facility in Ariège Department with an annual processing capacity of 16,000 tons, positioning Occitanie as France's core hub for PV recycling.
